Lourdes 150th Anniversary

2008 is the 150th Anniversary of Our Lady’s apparitions at Lourdes, France.

Pope Benedict XVI will be visiting Lourdes from 13th to 15th September.

Do you know about the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Paraparaumu on the Kapiti Coast, just north of Wellington?

The 14.3-metre (47-foot) high Statute of Our Lady was erected in 1958 to commemorate the Centenary of the Apparitions at Lourdes.

Please note that the date for the Celebration of the Nativity of Our Lady is brought forward to Sunday, 7th September.

This is to accommodate the Retreat on "The Importance of the Experience of Friendship".

The Retreat will be conducted by Fr Dominique Faure (from the Community of St John)

on Sunday, 14th September 2008

from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Feast Day of The Nativity of Our Lady

will be on Monday, 8^th September 2008.

St Matthew’s will celebrate the Birthday of Our Lady

at 3:00 pm on Sunday, 14^th September 2008

with Rosary and Benediction.

A shared afternoon tea will follow.

All are welcome.
